Disability
Disability insurance can keep you financially stable should you become disabled and unable to work. It can help provide a sense of security, knowing that if the unexpected should happen, you’ll still receive a monthly income.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability (STD)
- You are eligible to receive STD benefits after you have been disabled for 7 days due to a non-work-related illness or injury.
- Replaces up to 60% of your eligible income, up to a maximum of $2,500 per week.
- Benefits end after 12 weeks.
- Cost paid in full by UMass Global.
- California and New Jersey residents will receive short term disability benefits through mandatory state programs.
- STD benefits are not available to Faculty.
Long-Term Disability (LTD)
- You are eligible to receive LTD benefits after 90 days of disability.
- Annual income less than $150,000: Replaces up to 60% of your eligible income, up to a maximum of $7,500 per month until 24 months pass.
- Annual income more than $150,000: Replaces up to 60% of your eligible income, up to a maximum of $16,000 per month until 24 months pass.
